Student attendance is not only the function of the attendance office and the assistant principal, but also the function of parents who value the instructional time given to their children and teachers who establish the expectations and learning standards that necessitate regular attendance by students. It requires the continued vigilance of both parents and teachers. Student attendance must be the concern of all staff members and parents/guardians. At Late Schools, students must be signed into school by 10:04 AM and cannot be signed out until 1:20 PM in order to receive credit for a day’s attendance. Students are given the opportunity to participate in authentic and challenging learning activities with a teacher who has been trained in differentiated instruction in a specific content area.A student must be present in school a minimum of four (4) hours of instructional time to be given credit for a day’s attendance. At Early Schools, students must be signed into school by 9:10 AM and cannot be signed out until 12:26 PM in order to receive credit for a day’s attendance. Students are placed into cluster group classes for English Language Arts/Social Studies and Science. Students are given the opportunity to participate in a variety of supplemental or enrichment activities with a teacher who has been trained in differentiated instruction.Ĭontinuing in sixth grade, students will be identified for placement into Enrichment Cluster Groups based on multiple measures of selection criteria for different academic content areas. Students are placed with peers of similar academic abilities in a heterogeneous classroom in order to allow them to learn together in an environment that delivers differentiation opportunities and curriculum compacting. The focus of the K-2 program is student potential and aptitude.īeginning in third grade, students are identified for placement into Enrichment Cluster Groups based on multiple measures of selection criteria. Teachers use enrichment tool kits that include differentiated learning activities to further challenge students and promote critical thinking skills across the core academic content areas. Project Engage is an extension and enrichment program integrated into each K-2 classroom throughout the district.
